Leading the Way in Cab Protection
Fire Barrel
These fire barrels are designed to give years of use by Scout/Cub/Beavers. The prototype legs shown in the picture opposite have been used for the last 5 years for about 8 to 10 camps a year, plus scout/cub/beaver nights and are still showing no signs of wear. The fire barrels are sold as complete kits; Barrels, legs and grill, or the individual items can be purchased separately. See kit page.
Legs
The legs are constricted from 19 mm square tube with a wall thickness of 1.5 mm, all joints are fully welded. This construction produces legs that are extremely strong and will last for years, unlike the thin walled tube used for the BBQ legs you will see in garden centres. Each leg is designed to stand up on it’s own, eliminating the need to connect the legs together. When the barrel is placed on the top of a pair of legs it produces a very strong and stable structure, even on soft muddy ground where the feet spread the load. This is unlike the point contact given by traditional legs. The legs are powder coated black. Please note that the powder coating will be affected by the heat and may come away in areas of extreme heat. Any rust that forms on the surface will not effect the longevity of the legs
Grills
The Grid or Grill plate is manufactured from 20mm thick industrial flooring, which gives a very strong grill which doesn’t warp or bow like steel mesh.
The Grill is available in two options.
1. One single piece 34” (880 mm) x 24” (620 mm). This single top can be used either long ways, with the long length down the length of the barrel or turned through 90 Degrees as shown in the top cooking picture. This covers two thirds of the barrel and allows the fire to be fed from one end. The top will overhang the barrel either side by approximately 4.5”
2. Two pieces covering half the barrel each. Each piece is approx. 18” (460 mm) x 24” (620 mm). The advantage of the two piece grill is it can be transported in the barrel and either end can be removed to feed the fire.
Barrels
All barrels are cleaned and repainted on the outside before they are cut in half. The barrel is a standard 45 gallon drum. 34” (880 mm) long x 23” (590 mm) wide x 11.5” High
